Singer/songwriter Toshinobu Kubota (63) made a VTR appearance on the ABC/TelecTV program “Eight-Jam” broadcast late at night on August 28. He named three Japanese artists of note. Kubota himself was featured in the program, and he responded to the interview. When singer/songwriter SIRUP asked him if there were any R&B artists to watch out for, Kubota replied, “There are, but…I won’t say. There are singers who are close to me. It’s hard to say. However, he laughed and said, “If SIRUP asks, then SIRUP is the one to ask. I mean, he’s the only artist I’ve ever gone to see before or after his debut and said, “I’ve seen him! I mean, he’s the only artist I’ve ever gone to see before or after his debut and said, “I’ve seen him! He has a unique flow (singing style), but he’s soft. It has to be something innate to be able to do that. That part is exceptional. SIRUP, who watched the VTR in the studio, was thrilled, saying, “I’m going to cry normally, it’s great. He explained that Kubota came to his office when he held a small event for about 40 people in his first year at the office. He surprised the audience by saying, “Mr. Kubota called the office and made an appointment for me to come. He recalled, “He’s a big name, but to have him come and dig this young guy…I was really touched.” When asked about artists he pays attention to regardless of genre, Kubota replied, “In Japan, I listen to all kinds of music, not just R&B. I listen to all kinds of things, not just R&B in Japan,” she said with a smile. She is not a musical artist at all, but she has a good sound and her songs are simple. She has a good sound and her songs are simple and persuasive. He added, “Vaundy is cool. He doesn’t do the same thing, and I don’t think he ever will, but he’s very talented. I also think he has a good attitude.
