On October 15, the popular variety show “Wednesday’s Downtown” (TBS) aired, and the appearance of Downtown’s Hitoshi Matsumoto (62) in a past VTR drew a lot of support and criticism on SNS. The program aired a project called “Theory Doubt” on the same day. It has been 11 and a half years since “Wednesday’s Downtown” began airing in April 2014. More than 1,000 theories have been tested in the program. Some of these theories may not have left anyone’s memory at all, so we decided to find out “whether they are true theories that have been verified in the past or false theories that have not actually been aired. The show was facilitated by Kazutoyo Kobushi (52), with Masanori Hamada (62), MC of the show, Toshiaki Kasuga (46) of Audrey, a regular on the show, and Kazu Laser (41) of Maple Chogokin, a regular on the show, duking it out to determine whether the theories were true or false. The “Theory Doubt” was a recap of the show, and plenty of past VTRs were used. Some of the scenes included a wipe of Mr. Matsumoto, and viewers voiced their approval or disapproval. I’m sure the staff of Mizudow is timing his return. I think his return to terrestrial broadcasting is coming soon, and if it’s on Mizudau, everyone will forgive him, right? Since Hitoshi Matsumoto is on the show in the past, wouldn’t it be okay if he’s on Mizudow next month or so? On the other hand, there were some people who welcomed the show, saying, “I lost interest in watching today’s Mizudau because Matsumoto Hitoshi is on the show. I’m uncomfortable with Matsumoto’s appearance, and I dislike the way the production team seems to be watching the past broadcasts to see the reaction. I like Mizudow because it’s interesting. What? I don’t like the way the production team seems to be watching the reactions to past episodes. Is it okay for him to appear on terrestrial TV if he’s a wipe? Is he that much in demand? There are not a few critical opinions, such as, “Will Matsumoto be able to return to terrestrial broadcasting with the start of Downtown+ next month? The start of “DOWNTOWN+,” an Internet streaming service by Downtown, is coming up on November 1,” said one critic. On the official SNS, a new visual of Mr. Matsumoto has been released, and new information has been revealed one after another, including that the original program “7:3 Talk” and “Fruitless Talk Tournament” will be distributed. Many viewers are wondering if the use of a past VTR featuring Mr. Matsumoto in “Mizudau” is a warning signal for the launch of “Downtown Plus” and his eventual return to terrestrial broadcasting.
