You are a comedian in Okinawa, and got married in September 2024, when your current husband applied for a “Mr. Oya’s looking for a boyfriend” project on a TV program. Please tell us what happened at that time.
Ms. Oya: In April 2020, my husband, who worked at a hotel, happened to see a TV program featuring me. At that time, he fell in love with me at first sight and said, “I like this girl. About six months later, another TV show started a project called “Mr. Oya’s Boyfriend Wanted. When my husband heard about it, he thought, “This is my chance,” and applied. The “Wanted Boyfriend” project began as a small conversation between myself and the program director. I had always had a strong desire to get married and had been engaged for years, and I had been posting on social networking sites about my own marriage activities and my failure to get married. The director was looking at my SNS and asked me, “I heard that Oya is engaged in marriage activity, how is he doing these days? He asked me. When I replied, “It’s not going well at all,” he said, “Then let’s recruit a boyfriend on the show! I was like, “Well, then, let’s recruit a boyfriend on the show!
TM: How did you feel at first about your husband’s application? Oya: The profile he sent me was very carefully written, and I could tell that he was not a cold-hearted person. The director recommended him to me and said, “This person looks good, doesn’t he? I was also interested in him. But at the time, we were in the middle of the Corona disaster. The TV station had a policy of not allowing ordinary people to appear on the show and have contact with comedians. My husband also worked at a hotel and was in the hospitality industry, so he was not allowed to meet people in private as much as possible.
