Jet bath on the balcony
When we visited a major housing information website, we found a large mansion for sale with a land area of 104 tsubo and a building area of 140 tsubo. The sales pitch reads, “Custom-built to the seller’s specifications,” and “Studio (soundproof room) on the basement floor. The price was 604 million yen. The house is already vacant, but the seller is Yuji Miyake himself. According to a real estate agent, “The living room and dining room are 28 tatami mats, large enough for a large gathering to hold a banquet. The balcony on the third floor has a jet bath, so on a clear day, you can see Mt. Naturally, it has a full 7LDK layout and a soundproof studio in the basement. If you want to find a house in this area, there are many houses for sale for less than half the price, so it is a property for a buyer of your choice.
Borrowing 400 million yen
The residents of Denenchofu are diverse. They include Hiroshi Itsuki, former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, the late Shintaro Ishihara, former Governor of Tokyo, and Shigeo Nagashima, former manager of the Giants, all of whom are well-known and successful people. Miyake started his career in the entertainment industry as a comedian, launching his own theater company at the age of 28. Although he did not have much success, he got his big break as a radio personality and host of a TV variety show. Since then, he has appeared in numerous dramas, movies, and commercials, and also started his own jazz big band. Now that he has become a household name and has settled down in a residential area, why is he “giving up” his residence? According to the real estate registry, Miyake borrowed about 400 million yen from a credit union last October, using his house as collateral. Perhaps he was pressed for funds at a moment’s notice.
